Objectives and Mission
The mission of APIRR is:
"To optimize the health outcomes and quality of life for people with functional impairments in the Asia-Pacific region, and to promote scientific innovation, fairness, accessibility and sustainable development in rehabilitation medicine."
To achieve this mission, APIRR will focus on the following activities:
1. Promote cutting-edge scientific research collaboration: Focus on key areas such as neurorehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary metabolic rehabilitation, and intelligent rehabilitation technologies (such as brain-computer interfaces, wearable devices, AI assessment systems), and support multi-center, cross-national original research;
2. Promote standardization of rehabilitation education: Collaborate with universities and medical institutions to establish a rehabilitation talent training system that meets international standards and adapts to local needs, including physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams;
3. Accelerate the integration of medicine and engineering and technology transfer: Build a platform for industry-university-research-application collaboration to promote the clinical implementation of innovative achievements such as rehabilitation robots, virtual reality, and remote home-based rehabilitation;
4. Advocate for rehabilitation equity and policy influence: Focus on the gap in rehabilitation services in resource-poor areas, provide evidence-based policy recommendations to the government and international organizations, and promote rehabilitation to be included in universal health coverage;
5. Strengthen regional collaboration and global dialogue: Regularly hold the "Asia-Pacific Rehabilitation Medicine Conference", establish a data sharing network, and deeply cooperate with international rehabilitation organizations to enhance the voice of the Asia-Pacific region in global rehabilitation governance.
